PDF Professional 4+

Wow, I really like this program. I own adobe pdf pro for windows but wanted something I could use on my mac.
I can't manipulate pages with this (such as extracting and making new files), but it's actually easier to use than adobe for making notations (in colors of your choosing).
The key to saving the notes is to choose File-Export-pdf with embedded notes.
It all took me seconds to figure out. I'm very impressed.

I liked the idea of having a freehand writing tool but it doesn't work well with the track pad. If I used a mouse it might be better but I have used it for a month have been disappointed. The work flow when you are editing the PDF isn't user friendly. If you have created a text box you cannot change the size, font or location of the text box while you are editing the text box. Additionally, you cannot change the text background and border of a text box, making notes on a graph very difficult because they cover up any details that you are making notes on top of.

Moving from tool to tool is very frustrating as well. You can turn the tool bar on, but if you click on the tool bar icons it will automatically create what ever icon you clicked on the middle of the screen. You have to grab the little handles to move the arrow or text box to wherever you want it. It would be nicer if I could draw the arrow or text box the first time.

Not worth the 2 dollars I paid for it. Preview is Better and Free!

I bought this app so that I can annotate student papers on my computer rather than having them turn them in on paper. This app works well for that, especially considering the price. It does take some getting used to and is not as "out of the box" user friendly as others, but with just a little bit of playing around all of the features are now easy to use. Previous reviews had complained that certain features (i.e. highlight) did not work. I have not found that to be the case. For certain features you click the desired button first, but for others (once again, i.e. highlight) you first select the desired portion of text and then click the feature button. This app is not perfect, but for the price it meets my needs as a teacher.
