Description

Piezo makes it a snap to record audio on your Mac. With just a few clicks, you can record audio from any application, or from audio input devices like microphones. Piezo's great for recording from VoIP applications like Skype and iChat as well. Save conversations or interviews for podcasts.

Piezo requires almost no configuration, and it's a blast to use!

What's New in Version 1.1.5

A bug where high CPU usage could cause problems with Piezo and Mac OS X has been fixed.

You Get What You Pay For

The developer, Rogue Amoeba, is darn smart. They made a downgraded version of their wonderful Audio Hijack Pro and are selling it for 1/3 the price and calling it Piezo. For most people, this App will be all that you need. However, the output from Piezo is limited to MP3 or AAC with sampling rates of 128k or 256k. There is no AIFF (lossless) output nor higher lossy (MP3 or AAC) option. So for those of us that would like to edit the output, this means going from a lossy (MP3 or AAC) back to a lossy again, with some signal quality loss. There is also no input volume adjustment.

However, this App does a wonderful job of grabbing an output from a single program and no other noise your Mac may make will be recorded. So if you are satisfied with the limitations, this is the App to grab.

Unfortunately, for me, this does not cut it, so I wasted my $. This is my first purchase though the App Store and likely my last. Next time, I will go directly to the developer website where they may have a trail version (Rogue Amoeba does) and skip the App Store.

I love the simplicity

Nicely done app. I love how easily I can record skype calls. I only wish it mixed calls to mono, rather than separating the two callers into left and right channels. Or at least provided an option to do so.

Works great

Just tried it out and other than having to restart Chrome, it works like a charm. Also works with Pulsar. I wish I could figure out how to get it to record my Google Voice phone calls through Chrome though. It couldn't pick that up which makes sense--although I can't figure out what to point it to as a source.
