If you do not upgrade to iOS 5, you can continue to access your issues as you do now. If you would like your new issues to download automatically, please go into Settings > Store and turn on Automatic Downloads for Apps and for the Reader’s Digest app itself. Should be free for print subscribers
I really hate it when you pay for a print magazine, and the they want you to pay a second time for reading it on the iPad. Seems really counterintuitive and greedy.

Impossible to read, after buying no support...
Terrible app, miserable UI, very frustrating
This is a really poor app, and is very frustrating to use. The navigation is very poorly designed. It downloads each book for a long time, one would think the download means that the book is now available offline. No sir, then it needs to download each page as you go to read it. What was the point of the initial download? The in-app store refuses to work in landscape mode. Instead of being able to read like a book, you need to swipe in all possible directions to navigate around. The focus of the app is to just sell you more, as it keeps returning to the store-front all the time. Terrible strategy by such a respected publication.
