In app download makes a world of difference
Now that you can search and download in the app, I find myself reading much more. The Bookshare app, ReadToGo, allowed that before, so I found myself using that app for many leisure books because it was so easy, but I much prefer this one since the books are read by people. I wish the file sizes were smaller, but I have been reading 4 times as many books because of in app search and download. The previous method was just to time consuming and complicated (I am techie, but an impatient ADD millennial young adult). I also wish that this and ReadToGo could cross list their search results for people who are members of both organizations. That way we could see with one search who had what books and in what format, just like library cart catalogs do across multiple library systems. Last suggestion is to take audio books and integrate the text being highlighted when words are spoken like in book share. I have dyslexia and reading disabilities, so I do better when I can follow along with audio, however, I know how complicated that request is, but I figured I would ask.
If only it worked
I'm adding a star. Support seems to be actively investigating my issue. Perhaps they will fix it. I'd love to see my $130 investment actually work. Seems like it does for others. -----
Earlier Review:
Invalid book data every time I try to download. Called support and was told I had a weak wifi signal. Phooey. Tried at three locations where I have administrative control over router. Tried iPad and iPhone. Plenty of room on device. Account in good standing. Perfectly good signal. What a bummer. Normally I'd take this up with support and not here, but what's left to do? Sync books manually with iTunes (the other "solution") not an option. Wasted money based on the claim I could download via wifi. If you guys fix it or offer me a support path without a dead end, I'll gladly give more stars... assuming it works then.
Getting better
Nice update. Downloading directly to the iPad and having the ability to listen with the iPad closed is great, much easier and better on battery life. This app is better then the Mac app, you have to renew that yearly, this you will own forever.
I wish we could get the actual book to display or if it worked with the kindle app, I would pay in app purchase on the kindle app to have the ability to run both at the same time.
The bookshelf feature looks good, but slightly cheesy, it would be nice to have the actual book cover displayed.
The next big thing will be the ability to run this off a cloud, the books take up way too much space. I am sure that Apple will work with you on integrating iCloud with this app. It would be nice to be able to select books directly from the app.
