Description
★ Exploring San Francisco's Chinatown ★
With its narrow alleys and bustling main streets, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic, fascinating place to explore. This application helps you make the most of your time there, guiding you to the best dim sum parlors and restaurants, bakeries, souvenir shops and traditional stores, festivals, walking tours, churches and temples and historic sites.
Each location features photos, descriptions, maps, opening hours, price range, phone number and a web site link.
The guide covers Chinatown's two main streets: Grant Avenue, lined with colorful shops filled with souvenirs and merchandise, and the more authentic Stockton Street, where locals shop in markets packed with a mind-boggling array of food and imported delicacies. At the heart is Portsmouth Square, a historic spot where the declaration that gold was discovered was first made and where, today, old women gather, men play cards and children play under the ornate dragon streetlights.
In between are alleys and side streets that make up the densest urban neighborhood outside of New York City, an intriguing place to wander and soak up atmosphere: noisy mah jong parlors, brightly painted balconies, quiet incense-filled temples, hole-in-the-wall herbal medicine shops and dozens of restaurants with diners elbow-to-elbow and carts piled high with dim sum dumplings.

Really helpful
Was visiting chinatown, And this app was more than helpful. And the pictures are beatiful. Totally worth the buck! I recommend it!
It's like having a personal tour guide at your side
This app has lots of detailed information, well organized into various categories (cross-referenced!) for easy access. I've learned more about Chinatown in perusing this app for 15 minutes than I knew during the 10 years I lived in San Francisco. If you are just visiting San Francisco and you have this app, you won't need to carry a bulky tour book or hire a local guide to find out the best places to go in Chinatown (though the app does list a non-profit organization that has regular free tours of Chinatown). If you are a resident of San Francisco, this app will likely have plenty of new information to offer you, and will help you to become an "expert" on Chinatown. I like that it has a "Favorites" category, to which you can add your favorite entries from the app, for easy retrieval later. The pictures in the slideshows are beautiful and capture the essence of Chinatown.
Chinatown
As a local, I was surprised about all of the "hidden gems" I found in this app. If you're headed to S.F., by all means get this app and explore! The map function worked great, too.
