Description
Sand Pictures creates beautiful landscapes from falling sand and rising bubbles. It is just like the sand picture frames in the real world, except on iPad you can interact!
Sand Pictures offers a highly realistic simulation of falling sand, with nearly 100,000 individual particles, all responding to gravity and collisions. The darker grains fall faster than the lighter ones, creating layers in the sand which results in magical works of art.
Push grains of sand around with your finger, or pop bubbles with a tap. Hold your finger in one spot to add more bubbles.
Changing between the 20 beautiful background images is as simple as a two finger swipe to the right or left. Or choose your own image from your photo library. You can also change the color of the sand through over 50 built in color gradients by dragging with two fingers up and down.
You can turn iPad any way you like and the sand will fall in different directions. Turning iPad over flips gravity, creating a new picture. Or tap the rotate button to let Sand Pictures flip the image for you.
You can also save the landscapes you create to your photo library, and post them straight to Twitter or Facebook with just a couple of taps.

Really not worth it
Takes to long to do anything with it. Not worth the time, space, or money!
Good app.... could be great!
I really, really like this app. Fun to watch, fun to play with. If there were only a way to "draw" platforms that would affect the path of falling sand, this would easily be a five star app.
Closest to real thing...
This app is the closest to a real sand art frame I've found on a computer, let alone the iPad. It's not one of the falling sand games -- instead it's a good emulator of the water and sand motion art frames that were popular in the 70s and 80s. Bought it for my wife, whose been known to loose hours watching them. Wouldn't be writing this review if I didn't have a second iPad.
To the dev -- don't add objects, oil, or flame. This app is exactly what I wanted. One addition that would be nice is a way to have some larger air bubbles. And/or for the small bubbles to collapse into bigger ones. Another nice option would be to auto flip /restart several minutes after all the sand falls. Maybe auto rotating backgrounds as another option.
Anyways, this is a nice physics emulator that's nice to just sit and watch.
