With Smultron you can easily write and edit text. It is a text editor for the rest of us which is both easy to use, elegant and very powerful.

Customer Reviews
Not Worth the Money
It was one thing to start charging for an app that used to be free, I can understand that, but it's a completely different thing to start charging for updates to the software after you've already paid, which is exactly what they've done with the Smultron 4 version. For an app that has been in the app store for 6 months or less, it is completely shady to charge people and then charge them again for a version update. Don't waste your money unless you want to continue to pay for the app every 6 months.
Releases simple updates as a new app
I've enjoyed Smultron and the open-source spinoff, Fraise, for a long time, so when it came to the Mac App Store I was more than happy to throw $5 to the developer, and was happy to see Smultron being developed again. Now, though, after a few minor updates to this app, he's released a new app called "Smultron 4" for another $5.
I would have been fine with this - one pre-Lion version and one for Lion - but all development seems to have stopped on this version. I won't be updating to "Smultron 4".
What is the developer thinking?
I had previously given this a 5 star review . . . However, I'm revoking that and giving it the lowest review I can. I've used Smultron for many years, but the developer has really dropped the ball. If you upgrade to OS X Lion, to get any Lion features you have to pay $5 for a different version. Not only do you have to pay for every upgrade, but Smultron 4 for Lion is actually much, much worse than this version and the previous versions.
Just stay away.
