Like a Ferarri with only 3 wheels
Really great app with one glaring flaw. Spent several hours editing photos from my recent vacation and marveling that I was doing it all on my ipad, only to find out that it doesn't save the final images in full resolution. Makes it worthless to me.
Best post-processing tool hands down
I long ago gave up using Photoshop for post-processing, in favor of Capture NX2. I spent 20+ minutes per photo in Photoshop, and could do the same or better in NX2 in half the time. Along comes Snapseed and WOW... I was blown away! It now takes me a minute or less on most photos. Tap slide tap slide tap slide, quick compare, and done. If I need more extensive tweaks in NX2 or Photoshop, but Snapseed is now solidly my go-to tool and covers over 99% of my shots. Add on the camera connector kit and the portability is incredible, as well. I've now used my iPad exclusively for travel blogging twice - once for a week long beach trip, and another for a three week long road trip.
Wish list:
- Easier navigation of the image library, like add an "End" button to scroll directly to the end
- More clearly indicate you have to allow location services to preserve EXIF data.

Update: No sooner did I write this review than I discover an annoying aspect. Saved resolution is limited by your device. They say iPad 2 supports up to 16 mp. This hasn't been my experience. Snapseed is often saving at some randomly different resolution than my under-16mp original. I had one photo that indefinitely didn't crop, but the eventual resolution was half the original - not good enough for large prints. I get the IOS imposed limit, but this seems to be. Problem with Snapseed. Lowering my review to 4 stars.
Great first version, could use improvements
I am an avid Nik Software fan, and use their software in my DSLR work on my desktop. Therefore I was very excited to hear about their iPhone app. So far it's pretty cool and you can certainly see the family resemblence between their app and their desktop software.
After a short time with the app I can say that it's pretty cool! There are some features that are missing though... vignettes, black adjustment, etc.
For a first version the app shows a ton of promise. I really hope that they continue to develop this into a full featured app!
