Description
What is SpaceControl? What does it do?
SpaceControl is designed to be simple.
A text will appear in your menu bar showing the amount of free space on your startup disk. Click on the menu item and submenus will appear, showing information about all disks or volumes mounted on your desktop.
If you want SpaceControl to start every time you log on to your computer you can choose that option in the Preference window. You can also make some choices about how you want the menu item to appear.
What will SpaceControl do if I run out of free space on my startup disk?
SpaceControl will warn you when the free space available on your startup disk goes below the chosen limit.You could choose to get your warning through E-mail. You can change the limit at which you get a warning, in the Preference windows. When you break that limit, SpaceControl will warn you by changing the color of its text in the menu and also display a message box to warn you.
SpaceControl also support warnings on other Volumes than the start up disk.

Some users on OS X 10.7 (Lion) have reported SpaceControl showing a different amount of free space than Finder. SpaceControl is actually showing the same amount of free space as About This Mac and Disk Utility. At this time we are unsure of why Finder shows a different amount of free space.

Does Exactly what it says!
This little utility works as advertised! Shows the available space on all attached drives (same as About This Mac / More Info… / Storage). I always struggle with having enough available space, and this little utility has always kept me honest about what I have left!
Great potential but...
I want to like this application, I really do, but the fact that it doesn't even display the correct free space on my menubar is a huge problem. Programs like Grand Perspective and Finder say I have more free space available than what Space Control says. This is a huge problem.
One more thing
Just installed SpaceControl and I like it, but I have one suggestion-when setting Free Space warning thresholds for Other Volumes I would prefer either to indicate a percentage or be able to specify different amounts since my drives are not all the same size.
