Simple yet fun Risk-type game
I downloaded this game looking for a Risk-type game for my kid (it was free). It fits the bill nicely. You play as robots trying to take over circuit boards. Your chances of winning are based on rolls of a "dice". My kid really likes the robots and gets excited when he unlocks a new one. I like that he's learning about math and odds (so that he can figure out ahead of time if he's got a chance of taking over a piece of the play field). You can play solo against the computer or against another player (on the same device only). He and I will sometimes play together and I've admittedly been playing against 3 hard AI players.
The game could use some more levels and robots and online play would be great but for free I can't complain. Nice app.
Could have been "Speck"-tacular
First off I want to acknowledge the fact that for a free game, this is quite polished. Kudos. Having said that, the algorithm used for the "die" needs a major overhaul. I haven't exactly kept stats, but am pretty sure my AI opponent is waaay luckier than I am. He always seems to roll the perfect number to wipe out my 10+ tile with his 4-5 on the first shot, leaving me scratching my head or shaking it in disgust. I would have loved to see some more consideration with regards to the penalty incurred for capturing a tile. If you successfully roll the number to take a spot controlled by a force 2x yours, shouldn't you suffer some losses along the way? I realize this is a basic strategy game designed for a more casual approach, but that doesn't mean it can't be balanced. All in all, I enjoy the game and since I didn't spend a penny on it, it is a great alternative to the $7 Risk. With some minor tweaking, I strongly believe you could release this as a paid app for somewhere in the .99-1.99 range. Keep up the good work.
