Speed-Up brings the 2.0x playback button from your iPhone to your Mac. Listen to audio podcasts (no video podcasts!) and songs at any speed between 0.25x and 3.0x using iTunes.
The app is NOT compatible with AirPlay and Audible-protected audiobooks.

Great idea.. poor results
The idea is perfect... to mimic the iPod's multi-speed functionality with podcasts. However, in practice, the resulting output is really unnerving. I usually listen to my podcasts on my iPhone at 2x speed. With Speed-Up, even at 1.5x speed the sound is very echoey and flangy. The effect is quite noticeable... it almost feels like it's popping in an out of stereo (like on channel falls in and out of sync). Going beyond that speed ... well it gets worse. Whatever Apple did within their iPod app on the iPhone, it worked and works well. While I applause the developer for thier effort, I cannot recommend this app. Not yet at least.
I will ammend my review if things improve.
Does what it says on the tin
This provides a feature sorely missing from iTunes for some time now. The time stretching has about as many artifacts as you would expect, but is nonetheless pretty good. It would be nice if the menubar item popped a slider out right away instead of having to click on "other," and if the speed of playback updated in real time without having to click ok. It's still really useful!
Extremely Dissatisfied
I tried to use this app to listen to chaptiers of the Bible at about 1.3X (the reader I have reads slowly.) It would skip up to the last 30 seconds on some tracks and repeat the last 3 seconds or so on others. I e-mailed the developer and they responded by asking me to send them some mp3s to test them out. They have not responded or fixed it. With so many complaints in the reviews and the 3, 2 and 1 start feedback prevailing I think Apple should yank this from the store until the developers can get it right. Hope this keeps someone else from wasting $2.99 plus tax USD.
