Description

Things is a beautifully focused and amazingly intuitive task manager. Other todo applications either oversimplify or are too difficult to use. Things instead offers the perfect balance between ease of use and powerful features.

Effortlessly manage to-dos, notes, due dates, and projects. A smart today list and the scheduling feature allow you to work as effectively as possible - every day.

You can even sync wirelessly with the desktop version of Things (sold separately) using Wi-Fi.

Join the thousands of iPhone and iPod touch users who have made Things the most popular paid to-do manager in the App Store.

Visit our web site for a screencast to find out exactly how Things works.

“If Things sounds simple, that's because it is. Other to-do list managers I've tried have, quite honestly, gotten in the way of me getting things done. Things doesn't do that. And I wouldn't have it any other way.” -- Macworld.com, ★★★★

Yawn

Every 6 months or so I revisit Things to see if there has been any progress in development. Sadly, there has been none in 4+ years. Yet Cultured Code apologists and shills keep pumping up ratings for this tripe. I won't mention alternative apps here as it would appear just as disingenuous. Suffice it to say, users contemplating a purchase of any version of Things should look elsewhere. Yawn.

Solid but lacking key features

UPDATE: I can no longer use this app for to-dos, as much as I love it, for the simple reason that you can't set custom alert notifications and I found that is a basic feature I consistently need throughout my workday. What is the point of the once-a-day global notification? To remind you once a day that tasks are due sometimes many hours later? Why not just remind me when they're due? Dealbreaker unfortunately, unless it gets added...

This would easily be a 5 star app I think if only it wasn't missing a few key features that would make it much better:

-Custom Alarms-
You really need to be able to set a custom alert/reminder time for each task. Currently the *only* notification alert we have is the global alert which only allows you to set ONE time to go off just ONCE a day for upcoming reminders. The reason I got this app is because it's a clean easy-to-use interface, but I still don't think periodic alerts throughout a busy day reminding you when something is due is asking much at all really. In fact it's one of the most basic features. I understand the point is to unclutter the 'new task' process, but you've already got Due Date - just add it to that.

-Moving 'Area' Items to 'Someday'-
When you try to move a task that's also located in an Area list, such as "Music", moving it into the Someday list instead of the default list (which I think is "Next") changes the task to an "Inactive Project", requiring another click-thru to see any of them. I'd like to see an option to disable or toggle that on/off. Most of what I put in "Music", "Shopping" and "Movies" etc. Areas are -only- things I plan to get someday, but I don't like them being hidden as "Inactive Projects".. so as an option: we should be able to view Inactive items in an Area list along with the 'Active' items if we choose to.

Cloud sync beta is awesome!!!!!

Things developer has been promising cloud syncing for a very long time. Local notifications is a good step in the right direction. Before we had no way of getting a notification at all. I love that they added repeating tasks to iPhone and ipad apps. The repeating tasks are amazing. You can have a task repeat every 2 weeks on Monday, Wednesday, & Saturday. Love it. Their State of Sync blog is nice to read. Sync service will be free. The beta expands to iOS devices August 22. Got my iOS beta invite. The sync is fast and reliable. Can't wait till it is out of beta. I've switched from Omnifocus due to their horribly slow sync. 60 seconds + and sometimes fails completely. In the beta Things sync takes literally one second. And doesn't fail on 3G. New daily review in the beta rocks. Love the integration with Siri and the ability to pull in reminders ,but would like this implemented in iOS not just the Mac app. Best Task Manager UI, UX ever.
