Description
US Fires is designed to provide current data about wild fires for the different States in the USA. It takes information from both Inciweb.org and from USDA web sites to provide as much comprehensive information as possible.
With the initial download of the application you are provided with data for the state of Oklahoma. To access other states you must purchase them from within the application. The current price per State is at the tier 1 price bracket.
*** For this summer only, if you purchase 5 or more states - you can now access the fire information for ALL of the states. ***
The main screen is a map showing where you are located and where the fires are located, to help the user understand where the fires are in relation to their current location. It is also possible to overlay the fire information with the thermal satellite data from the USDA to help locate the fires. This map can be displayed as a Satellite image, a normal map or as a hybrid of both.
Please note that while the Satellite Thermal data is useful, it also will take time to load, and does take up significant memory on the iPhone and iPad. The application does download in a compressed format, and therefore reduces your data usage.
While all care has been taken to provide the information as accurately as possible, the application does rely on both an internet connection and on accurate data being provided by inciweb.org and USDA.
We do recommend that you utilize official forms of communication regarding fires to ensure your safety and follow their instructions. We take no responsibility on actions people take based on the information provided by this application.
We do ask that users send feedback to P4G directly, as without this feedback we can not fix your particular issue and make the application suit your needs.
This application has been written by people who live in Victoria, Australia and have seen the devastation and loss that can be done by wild fires (bush fires) and hope that applications such as this can provide some help to people to stay informed.
What's New in Version 1.6
This version includes some major reworking of the satellite data making it quicker and easier to download. It is still not 'instantaneous' but it is much quicker, and uses considerably less memory. This will hopefully help to locate fires when the traditional reporting data is a bit late.
We have also made some changes to the inciweb data which means we will now pick up some older fires.
and we have hopefully finally fixed the distance to fires bug.
Dont forget to check out the information pages in the app for other information related to fires.

Review of app from those who know
This has less information then the morning situation report. The data on here I've noticed is outdated so I informed said creator of this application. What i found was the medium used between app and data bases isn't always giving the same info found in the databases like inciweb. It plugs a point on a map but no outline of control lines or divisions. Inciweb is your best bet for accurate information.
