This calculator uses the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to calculate inflation comparisons from 1913 to present. The CPI is a measure of the average change in prices over time in a market basket of goods and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases CPI data monthly.

Very useful tool
I use this quite often. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that it only goes up to 2019, and I would think 2020 data is available now (end of May 2021.
Simple, easy to use, trust worthy source
And prior reviews complained that it wasn’t being updated often but it seems that the 2023 CPI info was added in Feb 2024, which is pretty good since they have to wait for the year to end and do final calculations to have that year’s official CPI.
Really useful free inflation calculator
This is a very useful calculator that quickly lets you see how inflation has increased from one year to the next.
It’s simple to use, very useful and reasonably well designed. I hope they continue to update it for the foreseeable future.
