It's about the context
I really like this app's user interface. It is quite elegant and quick to use. The problem is that I can't trust the content.
Let me explain how I reached this conclusion. I live in the Los Angeles South Bay -- Redondo Beach, to be exact. I'm two blocks from an area called "Hollywood Riviera" which contains at least a half dozen restaurants and an equal number of pubs. This application doesn't report the existence of any of them. It claims the closest restaurant to my place is in Hermosa Beach. I would have to drive by, easily, twenty restaurants on my way to the restaurant they claim is closest to me. In fact, I was sitting in Hennessey's in Hollywood Riviera and fired up my iPad. The Where to Eat app reported the Hennessey's six miles away in Hermosa Beach, but. Ignored the one I was sitting in. By comparison, competing app Around Me showed twenty restaurants nearby including the Hennessey's I was in. Around me did incorrectly still list a restaurant that has recently closed, but I think that's understandable.
I don't know where this app gets its database, but it is woefully inadequate. If the app only reports a small percentage of restaurants in an area I know, I can only assume it does the same everywhere. So the app gets two stars for a nice interface and none for content. As it is, it isn't worth using.
