Within Temptation STILL ROCKS After 17 Years

     

When I first downloaded their app a few months ago, I was already a devoted fan of this acclaimed Dutch Symphonic Power Metal sextet since they broke through in the U.S.A. Thanks to the surprise success of their fourth album "The Heart Of Everything", and I could tell by it that 3 years later they would have their biggest hit with a unique head banging MASTERPIECE in every sense of the word
2011's "The Unforgiving" marked a welcome transition for founding members Sharon Den Adel & Robert Westerhoff, who are also a real life happy couple ever since before they formed the band, in part because on this album the songs almost take a turn towards the Christian side thanks to their newly arrived daughter & their newly discovered spirituality; besides that, songs like "Faster", "Sinead" & the hypnotic "Where is The Edge?" CLEARLY showcase their diverse musical influences which included everyone from Metallica & Black Sabbath to 80's new wave & pop supergroups like Norwegian sensation A-HA
Now that their tour to support it has GRACEFULLY ended, they'll take some time off before returning to the studio to begin work on album #6, which will definitely guide them to continue evolving both in music & theatrical grandeur without going over the top
