Description
Are you going to Yosemite Falls and Interested in history, wildlife, or nature?
National Park Service Rangers Bob Roney and Vickie Mates with a combined 50 years working at Yosemite take you on an immersive, entertaining, and educational walk around the forests and oak woodlands to a close up view of lower Yosemite Falls. Along the way they highlight the history, natural forces, and wildlife that shaped Yosemite Valley.
APP INCLUDES
The App includes 130MB of video, audio, images, and text which complement the breathtaking vistas. Visitors will experience rock falls, bears, owls, fires, floods, and visit the location of John Muir’s cabin and saw mill. This adventure through the Yosemite of today and yesterday takes place over 2.0 miles of paved handicap accessible trails with 22 points of interest. Visitors will experience the hidden stories all around them. Parents will find this App is “edu-taining” for their children and includes some Yosemite Cartoons from well known comic strip author Phil Frank of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Visitors can access content by touching the menu lists or touching the numbered icons on the interactive map. Numbered points of interest on the map correspond to the walking sights. Once downloaded the entire Yosemite Falls walk is self contained. Visitors with an iPhone get the bonus of having GPS showing their location on the map. When nearing one of the 22 tour stops the iPhone automatically vibrates notifying you of your arrival at a story spot. In addition to the story spots, the App has the locations for the nearest restrooms, visitor center, museum, and shuttle bus stops making finding your way around a breeze. The stories are best enjoyed while walking to Yosemite Falls, however the entire experience can also be shared with friends and family at your hotel, campsite, or when you are at home.
THE RANGERS
Ranger Bob Roney began at Yosemite in 1968 as a firefighter. He has also worked in search and rescue, as a Ranger Naturalist, in bear capture, immobilization, relocation, and research, photography, film, video, and audio production, and managed interpretive operations in several areas of Yosemite. Bob currently trains rangers in the art of interpreting natural and cultural resources and produces an occasional podcast called Yosemite Voices.
Ranger Vickie Mates began with the National Park Service in 1997 and arrived in Yosemite in 2005. During her time at Yosemite, she has worked on major interpretative projects including the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center Exhibit Hall, Thomas Hill Studio in Wawona, and the redesign of the park newspaper, Yosemite Guide. Vickie is currently the Branch Chief of Interpretive Field Operations, taking responsibility, directly or indirectly, for all interpretive park ranger staff and volunteers that provide interpretive walks, talks, and tours and staff park visitor centers.

Amazing Tour!
Awesome app! Felt like I have my own private Ranger tour, but at my own pace. Also loved the map and info on practical things like bathrooms. Can't wait for more titles!
Dad with three kids
Purchased this before our trip to Yosemite and wow was it amazing. The map showed exactly where we were just like google maps when we walked to yosemite falls and it VIBRATES when you get to one of the story places. The stories about the bears, owls, and old time photos were cool. My only problem was with one iPhone my kids kept fighting over who got to hold the phone.
Fun new title
A new and unique way to experience Yosemite Falls! I've walked to lower falls many times, this app adds a lot of great information and details about this area I never would have known. Thanks!
