About Avail
Richmond’s Avail burst onto an increasingly moribund East Coast punk scene in the early '90s. Their first two albums SATIATE and DIXIE integrated pop and classic rock into a gritty punk framework and announced working class, Southern punk as a new force. Their popularity, bolstered by their live shows (often featuring “cheerleader” Beau Beau) steadily increased, and singer Tim Barry’s homespun stories about small details in daily Richmond life gave Avail a unique voice that bucked hardcore orthodoxy.
