The Portland-based Blind Pilot, formed by singer/guitarist Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski, strike a balance between mellow folk and West Coast indie pop. After a period during which they recorded demos and subsequently went on a "bike tour" that saw them traveling from Vancouver to San Francisco via their bicycles, playing shows and selling EPs, they returned home to finalize 3 Round and a Sound (2008). While playing shows in support of the album, Blind Pilot added four new members to the touring lineup. This swelled the band's sound, making We Are the Tide (2011) and And Then Like Lions (2016) fleshed-out, lush affairs. ~ Andrew Leahey
