About Bob French

The son of New Orleans banjo player Albert “Papa” French, drummer/singer Bob French is an heir to and major contributor to the Big Easy’s musical dynasty. While his debut album as leader didn’t come out until 2007, French has played in many varied local contexts--R&B (Dave Bartholomew), rock & roll (Fats Domino), blues (Snooks Eaglin), and traditional jazz (the perennial Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, formerly led by his father). His debut, MARSALIS MUSIC HONORS BOB FRENCH, is a traditional jazz gem featuring the talents of Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis.
