Conchita Campos

Filipino-American singer Conchita Campos lived at first in Pasadena, CA, then moved to Philadelphia, PA, as a child when her father became a teacher at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Her parents divorced, and her mother took her to the Philippines. After finishing high school, she returned to the U.S., settling in San Francisco, CA, where she attended college at San Francisco State University. She studied music and after graduation worked in radio. Relocating to the New York City borough of Brooklyn, she eventually began performing as a singer/songwriter. Backed by her band Conchita's Collective, she attracted attention at such New York venues as the Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and the Knitting Factory, leading to the release of her debut EP, So It Goes …, which was credited to Conchita's Collective.
