Biography

A leading artist in the world of Chicago juke — a genre where house music, bass music, and ghetto tech come together — DJ Nate was born Nathan Clark. Growing up on the West Side of Chicago, Nate didn’t care for juke music at all, preferring hip-hop over this frantic and weird music, but hearing tracks from juke DJ Tha Pope turned his head around. After a series of 12”s, mixtapes, and DJ sets around Chicago, DJ Nate was featured in XLR8R magazine’s monthly Artists to Watch column in the summer of 2009. A year later he was signed to the British label Planet Mu, which would release his single “Hatas Our Motivation" that year along with his debut album, Da Trak Genious.
