Biography
Since their inception in 2008, all-female indie rock trio Explode into Colors went from up-and-comers on the Portland, Oregon scene to the Kill Rock Stars roster in a matter of a few quick months. Baritone guitarist/vocalist Claudia Meza, multi-instrumentalist Heather Treadway, and drummer Lisa Schonberg started making low-end, rhythm-driven songs influenced by the post-punk, dubby aesthetic of ESG and the Slits in a basement, and made a name for themselves playing house shows in and around Stumptown. Before recording a proper full-length, they were named "Portland’s Best New Band" by the Willamette Week in May of 2009, and were invited to go on tour with the Thermals. Soon after, Explode into Colors announced that they would be releasing a series of three 7"s (on M’Lady’s Records, Just for the Hell of It, and Kill Rock Stars), and that a debut album would be availablelater that year as well.
