About Grady Nichols

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My parents would listen to pop music in their car on the radio. I would always ask what instrument I was hearing with a saxophone solo would come on. I always knew even as a little kid when I would hear the sax. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob James, David Sanborn, Double Vision Chicago, Chicago 17 (Bonus Track Version) Jeff Lorber, West Side Stories David Sanborn, Jeff Lorber, and Bill Champlin from Chicago have had the most influence on me musically. Bill for his soulful singing, Lorber for his production and keyboard wizardry, and Sanborn for creating the coolest and most unique sax sound. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Dinner and a Movie” This was the first song I wrote with Jeff Lorber. Jeff has always been a hero to me and a wonderful mentor. This was my first big-time record and Jeff was producing it. I felt like I had stepped into the big leagues working with Lorber. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I had the privilege of sitting in with Kenny Loggins here in Tulsa, OK at the Church Studios on a special acoustic session he was doing. I played on "Celebrate Me Home" and it was something I will never forget. You can watch the video on YouTube. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I have a great band and we love making music together. I can definitely see doing another Christmas record at some point down the line along with continuing to create more original music. Just being out there performing for people is so much fun!
