Kate Tucker's unassuming acoustic pop doesn't so much jump out of the speakers as slowly seep into one's consciousness, hook by gentle hook. A mellow blend of Americana, folk, and indie-pop, her songs chime with strummed strings, slide guitar, and unobtrusive percussion that gets dialed up or down depending on the song. The Seattle-based songwriter's career has been buoyed by the inclusion of her music on more than one Starbucks compilation, as well as appearances at all the important indie festivals, and her 2006 debut was met with near-unanimous acclaim.
