About Lenny Solomon

A talented swing violinist from Canada, Lenny Solomon is actually a flexible player able to sound comfortable in several different musical idioms. His father was principal violist of the Toronto Symphony and his sister composed music for film and television. Solomon started playing piano when he was six, picking up the violin two years later. At 15, he discovered the music of Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. He gained some recognition during the '70s as half of the pop duo Myles & Lenny (with Myles Cohen); in addition he played classical music with Quintessence and has long been a busy studio musician. In 1992, Lenny Solomon released his debut CD for Jazz Inspiration, After You've Gone, and three years later came out with The Gershwin Sessions, a set that included guests Ruby Braff and Peter Appleyard. ~ Scott Yanow
