Lisa Brigantino

About Lisa Brigantino

Musician, composer, and vocalist Lisa Brigantino was born in New York City and raised not far away in the little town of Katonah. She began her musical training on the piano when she was only five years old. Around that same age, she spent free time singing at local nursing homes. Three years later, she added violin to her talents and started performing with school bands and orchestras. By the time she reached high school, she was composing tunes of her own. Since those childhood days, Brigantino has earned a Master of Music degree in music theory and composition and a Bachelor of Arts degree in the same subjects. She has also had voice training and mastered the bass, accordion, ukulele, guitar, banjo, percussion, and mandolin. While attending college, Brigantino met guitarist Tomi Millioto. The two began to perform together and married in 1998. A year later, Brigantino finished recording her first full-length album, A Brooklyn Night, released under the Hidden Pond Productions label. It was truly a labor of love and she and her husband completed all of the mixing, recording, and producing on the debut themselves. Some of the tracks from this first offering are "O Sister," "Left Side of the Street," "I Choose to Live a Different Way," and "Holding on for Something." Brigantino was also a founding member of Lez Zeppelin, the world's first all-girl, all-Led Zeppelin tribute band, playing bass, keyboards, and mandolin, and doing backup vocals. Their debut album was produced and recorded by the legendary Eddie Kramer. Brigantino's music has received positive reviews from critics and is considered an energetic mixture of blues, rock, pop, and even folk. Brigantino has composed music for film, theater, dance, and television. She has also worked to help other artists with educational opportunities and contacts in the business, offering her time on the board of directors for a nonprofit organization in New York City called Women in Music. Along the way, she has performed with many artists, including her husband Millioto, her sister Lori Brigantino, and unrelated others like Roberta Fabiano, Margo Lewis, and Susan Haefner. ~ Charlotte Dillon
