Michael J. Thomas is a Florida-based saxophonist and vocalist. His work crosses genres from contemporary jazz and pop to R&B, funk, and rock. His edgy, emotionally resonant sound offers an uncommonly rich, dark tone that fuels a music saturated in modern styles from smooth jazz and R&B to funk and Caribbean-tinged grooves. He began his solo career with Shadows of Love in 2002. In 2006, he followed with the jazz-spiritual set, Hymns: Music for the Soul. 2009's City Beat received airplay across the contemporary jazz radio sphere. His single "Baby Coffee" from his third album, 2017's Driven, topped the Smooth Jazz Airplay and Smooth Jazz Songs charts in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The following year, his instrumental reading of Lady Gaga's "I'll Never Love Again," reached the top spot at Smooth Jazz in 2019 during the same calendar year City Beat was released to streaming.
