Biography

In his youth, Robert Davi studied opera and aspired to be a singer, studying with Samuel Margolis of the Metropolitan Opera, Daniel Ferro of the Juilliard School of Music, and Italian baritone Tito Gobbi. But his career took a detour when, at age 20, he was chosen by his idol, Frank Sinatra, to act in the 1977 TV movie Contract on Cherry St. With his tough-guy looks and sinister manner, Davi went on to parts in over 100 films, memorably playing one of the foolhardy FBI agents named Johnson in Die Hard and starring as the villain in the James Bond movie License to Kill. His numerous TV credits include the series Profiler, Stargate: Atlantis, and Criminal Minds. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with the film The Dukes, in which he also appeared and displayed his singing ability. Finally, he made his first album in grand style, recording Davi Sings Sinatra: On the Road to Romance for Sun Lion Records at the Capitol Studios in Hollywood, produced by Phil Ramone with Al Schmitt mixing. The album was released on October 24, 2011, and to promote it Davi toured backed by a 50-piece orchestra in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
