Biography

Named for an obscure electronic gizmo that uses sound waves to cut and cauterize skin, the Radio Knives are a rambunctious power trio from Boston who play full-bodied garage punk with a side order of hard rock swagger. Influenced by the gritty pop tunes of the early Kinks and the high-energy assault of classic-era Detroit rockers the MC5 and the Stooges, the Radio Knives first began gigging around Boston in mid-2005 as TV Eye. When drummer Daniel J. McCarthy left the band shortly after finishing the group's debut album, bassist and singer Alan A. Levesque and guitarist/vocalist Stephen A. Fay opted to start fresh with a new name, and after Paul Reynolds signed on as the band's new drummer, they changed their handle to the Radio Knives. What began as TV Eye's album became the Radio Knives's debut, Cursed, which was released by Dionysus Records in the fall of 2006. The band hit the road for a tour to promote the LP, with the trio planning to go into the studio to begin work on album number two in 2007.
