Biography

In a way, the name says it all — Chicago's Very Truly Yours make the kind of earnest, sugar-sweet tunes that give rise to comparisons to acts like the School and Allo Darlin', not to mention influential indie pop groups like the Softies and Heavenly. Frontwoman Kristine Capua (formerly of the Lorimer Sound) teamed up with Lisle Mitnik (guitar), Dan Hyatt (bass), and Andy Rogers (drums) to form Very Truly Yours in the summer of 2008. The group began to garner serious attention from indie pop aficionados only a few months later, when they shared the stage with the Pains of Being Pure at Heart for a packed show at Schubas in February 2009. Over the course of the next year, Very Truly Yours made a few compilation disc appearances (including spots on All the Girls I've Ever Loved, via Pop Song Romance, and a WeePOP! compilation, Starting Anew); saw the release of a split EP on Cloudberry Records (Understudies/Very Truly Yours); and self-released their first EP, Reminders. Their debut full-length, Things You Used to Say, came out on Skywriting Records in the spring of 2010, just a couple months before the band made an appearance at the much-touted New York Popfest.
