Publisher Description

At the Star Tribune, as we approached the 150th anniversary of the U.S.-Dakota War, we decided to try to explain the significance of this awful time with a historical narrative, as told through the story of Little Crow, a Dakota chief who, at times reluctantly, led the 1862 rebellion.

Absorbing, balanced, remarkable reporting

The reporter, Curt Brown, has done a marvelous job of putting this story together. I read each day's episodes with great excitement. I plan to keep them all as well as buy the eBook. It is such a sad and painful part of our state's history. There were wrongs on both sides of the conflict, but indifference and insensitivity on the part of the decision makers caused the tensions to flare. I recommend it to all students of Minnesota and American history, politicians of any stripe, and all who like a gripping, well told tale.

Didn't have time to read the story daily in the paper but just finished the e book. Outstanding reporting. What a sad story for both the Dakota and the settlers.
