High gate Rise
I have only recently discovered Anne Perry and have become a fan. My one issue is with the endings. Highgate Rise, for example. It was thrilling and suspenseful right up to the very end at which time Charlotte and Dr. Shaw have a lofty philosophical discussion that does nothing for the reader needing some clarification. For example, did Shaw know who the murderer was all along? Who else knew the secret of the money? And, why did the conclusion place more blame and responsibility on Shaw than on the perpetrator? I loved the book but found the ending confusing and unsatisfactory.
