Publisher Description

A terrific novel about middle school friendship, family, fitting in, and finding out who you are when no one's looking.

Lane Cisco loves, loves, loves her life at Rio Chama Middle School—until her offbeat cousin comes for an extended visit and turns everything upside down. With her individual sense of style and nonconformist attitude, Angelina "Mint" Taraval is everything Lane isn't. And instead of branding her a loser the way Lane and her friends expect, people actually want to hang out with her. Including the boys Lane and her best friend, Ava, like.

When Ava comes up with a plan to ruin Mint, Lane feels stuck. She doesn't want to be mean . . . but she doesn't really want to stick up for her weird cousin either. Why can't things go back to the way they were before Mint arrived?

Emmie 77 ,

Great book!

I checked this out at the library once, and I really liked this book. It draws you in! ❤️❤️❤️

I liked it so much that I bought it to keep on a shelf. You should read this book too; I highly recommend it, especially for 9+.

This book is unforgettable, because it is unique in a great way. I’ll explain the main plot:

12-year-old Lane Cisco has beloved friends, and is elected sixth grade president too. Life seems perfect...until an almost-stranger cousin shows up to live with them.

Cousin Angelina “Mint” Cisco seems to be turning Lane’s life into a wreak. Her friends don’t like Mint, and she gets in the way of what seems to Lane like everything.

Lane’s dad wants her to “protect” Mint, because kids don’t know her yet, and some might think she’s weird. But protecting her is just making Mint mad—she wants to just be herself. But “herself” is kinda odd.🥸

Lane’s friend Ava decides to come up with a plan to get rid of Mint. At first Lane agrees, but she will later find out that Mint is not only family, but a friend.👯‍♀️
