Hear the Word of Yahweh

The essays in this volume address a range of topics in biblical studies and classical archaeology, highlighting the textual traditions and the social/religious world of ancient Israel and early Christianity. The authors, mostly faculty members at LCMS higher education institutions, draw on sound, conservative scholarship to analyze and interpret the language, imagery, and cultural contexts of select biblical and apocryphal books and passages. A central theme throughout the book is the living Word of God conveyed in human language, proclaimed as Law and Gospel, and ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.
