By Bike Around Tohoku

This is the record of a 2000km journey around the Tohoku region of Japan; the northernmost six prefectures of the island of Honshu. It follows the pilgrim path dedicated to Acala or Fudo Myoo as he is known in Japan. The pilgrimage included 36 temples devoted to Fudo Myoo and passed through Yamagata, Aomori, Fukushima, Sendai and Iwaki. Most of the travel was done using a small folding bike and staying in rural areas. The journey passed through some of the most beautiful areas of Japan, well away from conventional tourist districts and the book is illustrated with many colour photos.
