Publisher Description
Perfect for readers of Joanna Blake and Sawyer Bennett, hailed as “charming, sexy, and smart” by Lauren Layne, the Bad Boys of Baseball series from award-winning author Katie Rose heats up as a homegrown baseball star returns to snag the one that got away.
When veteran catcher Connor Jackson gets traded to the New Jersey Sonics, he welcomes the opportunity to possibly cap his career with a World Series ring in his home state. But there’s another reason Connor is glad things have come full circle. In pursuit of hardball glory, he left behind his college sweetheart, the one girl he could never forget. Seeing her again stirs up long-lost desires . . . and this time, he’s determined not to strike out.
A divorced mother of four, Tracy Coleman no longer aspires to gossip-mag glam—but she’ll make an exception for a date with Connor. Their chemistry is hotter than ever, and being alone with him is more seductive than she anticipated. Who could blame her for leaving out a little detail like the kids? Now all she has to do is come clean and convince the man of her dreams that they—Connor, Tracy, and her children—have a future together.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In Rose's tender fourth Bad Boys of Baseball contemporary (after The Heat of the Moment), two long-separated lovers get their second chance. Pro ballplayer Connor Jackson is glad to be reunited with the New Jersey Sonics as their catcher, and even more delighted when he reconnects with his first love, Tracy Coleman, after 15 years apart but unbeknownst to him, she's now heading up her own "team," her family of four kids. Tracy and Connor agreed to end their relationship, but she never really got over him, even when she married someone else. Now divorced and raising her kids without any help from their father, Tracy is afraid her life will be more than Connor is willing to take on. Connor's passionate about Tracy but not oblivious to the fact that she's a package deal, and he needs to be sure he's willing to commit for the long haul before getting too deeply involved. The story is sensitive and heartwarming, and readers will appreciate the realistic reactions of all the characters as the relationship unfolds.

Second changes are possible
This is another great romance from Katie Rose. Connor Jackson is happy he has been traded to the Jersey Sonics baseball team. Connor has always had serious feelings for Tracy, his college sweet heart. Now that she is divorced, he wants another chance with her. But Tracy’s life has changed dramatically since Connor last saw her. While Tracy is interested in this second change, she has reservations. She now has four children and knows she has to take them into consideration in whatever decisions she makes. She is not sure how Connor will feel about getting involved with a single mom. After all, why would this famous, successful baseball player want to saddle himself with the responsibility of four children? You couldn’t help but love all the characters, well except for the ex-husband. They were sweet, caring and overall good people. Tracy is a strong woman. Life is not easy with four small children but she handles it marvelously. There was not a lot of drama involved. The dialogue flows easily but was a little slow at times. One thing I think I would have liked to see more of was a relationship between Connor and Mason. Mason was always disappointed by his father, so I think having a “boys” day out with him and Connor would have been sweet. I know it says 4/4 books but hopefully we will see more stories from the Jersey Sonic boys (hint).
Cute quick story about second chances!

This is my fourth book by Katie Rose, and the fourth book in her Boys of Summer series. This was a cute quick read just like the first three. This is a cute story of second chances, which is great since Connor and Tracy are great together.
Another good story, HEA, standalone, no cliffhanger.
This is book number four in the Bad Boys of Baseball series (originally called The Boys of Summer series) but each book stands alone and you won’t feel like you’ve missed anything if you start with this one. Be sure to read the others, though because they’re good books.
The Heat is On is a great title for this book; it’s filled with heat between Connor and Tracy. They were an item in college but he left her for baseball. Now that she is divorced, and he is back in town, Connor wants to connect with her again and see what happens. There are a lot of ups and downs in their new relationship. Connor isn’t sure if he can handle her four kids and her ex is making trouble.
While I enjoyed this book quite a bit it didn’t captivate me quite as much as the previous ones in this series. It’s entirely possible that it was just my mood when I read this one but the writing didn’t seem to flow quite as good as the earlier ones. Still, all in all, I liked this one and definitely will read more in this series and more books from this author.
A word of warning – if steamy scenes and the F word seriously offend you then you might want to skip this one (but you’ll be missing a good book).
