Publisher Description
Many words have been written about the atrocities committed against the Jewish people living in Poland in the few years before and those during the Second World War. Few Jewish families fortunate enough to escape Poland and flee across Russian borders before Nazi occupation had, despite the brutal landscape, at least had a remote chance at survival.
I was born on a cold and frosty morning on January 28, 1937, in the city of Pabianice. In all of Jewish history, this was absolutely the worst of all times and the worst of all places to be born a Jew. The most evil rulers possessed such total powers that nearly half of mankind in Europe were in their grip, and most bore ill will towards the Jews. When I was born in Poland, no Jew had any prospect for longevity; the odds that I would be standing here today, were then at minimum six million to one.
