East Texas Terrorism

These chapters give a brief survey of the violent events that took place in East Texas before government and law were established in the region. This book examines the outlaw Cullen Baker, Reconstruction violence, military tribunals, famous murder trials, robberies and the Cherokee War of 1839. The eastern border of Texas was undefined in the early 1800's. Spain and France never settled the border and in the bottomlands of the Sabine ad Red Rivers outlaws roamed without fear.
