rything in Daniel Douglas's life is falling to pieces - especially his mind.

Within hours after being released from the stroke unit at the Foothills Hospital, Daniel discovers he is being laid off from his job of four years.To make matters worse, the mother of his child is beginning to have doubts he is capable of loving anything beyond fantasy football and Cuba Libres.

Unemployed, unhappy, hopelessly sick and pathetically broke, Daniel books a last minute vacation to Playa del Carmen with his girlfriend in the hopes the trip will not only save their crumbling relationship, but his sanity as well.

The vacation soon spirals into a string of disasters - beginning with a bad batch of chicken carbonara - that sends him on a drunken,self-destructive tear that threatens to ruin the only good thing left in his life - his family.
