Beth Cox was thinking about Maud Cox again. Maud was an arrogant painter with greasy moles and red fingers.
Beth walked over to the window and reflected on her hilly surroundings. She had always loved old-fashioned Oxford with its dry, deadly ditches. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel jumpy.
