Kimberly Tucker's life hasn't turned out the way she thought it would. A divorced mother of two, Kim resents her ex-husband for moving on with his life and living it up while she struggles to understand what went wrong. When her sons end up spending five weeks of summer vacation with their father, Kim's own father suggests a respite in the family vacation home on tiny Cedar Key Island. As Kim revisits her childhood memories and loves, she soon discovers that treasures in life are often buried, and mistakes--both past and present--become redeemable in God's hand.
Readers will be swept away to an island retreat where they walk alongside Kim as she discovers that God's answers may not come easily, but they do come.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Radio personality and speaker Everson (Things Left Unspoken) begins a new series situated in Cedar Key, Fla., where this author mixes childhood naivet with grown-up pain. Kimberly Tucker, recently divorced mom of two boys, suddenly finds herself facing five long summer weeks alone while her sons visit their father. Kim, at the behest of her widower father, goes back to her childhood vacation home at Cedar Key and finds herself facing heartache and dredging up family secrets that are affecting her sisters even today. When Kim befriends an elderly neighbor, both women share their heartbreaking stories and healing begins in earnest. With revelations galore to contend with, Kim finds herself doing plenty of soul-searching while attempting to regain her emotional balance in the unsettling circumstance. Everson's work is neatly done and her fans will find value in her presentation of life's lack of tidiness, which reads both realistically and convincingly.
Customer Reviews
Very real and true to life
Very nice but where's the rest? I dont see any mention of the follow up.
A page turner
I was so disappointed when I read the last words, looked at the page counter, showing several more pages to go, flip...the end...NOOOO, I need to know so much more, these characters are so interesting. I wish this book was a television series, I'm just not ready to walk away from the characters!
Sunsets
I am not a romance fan but thought it might be enjoyable to read a Christian story. I did enjoy the uplifting Spirit of the book as well as the setting descriptions. You left me wanting to learn about Patsy and her story that brought her to such a living walk with God.
