Very Well Done
As far as I'm concerned, this book accomplishes a great feat because I knew nothing of the Federalist Papers before, and now I enjoy picking up my iPad and reading about them in this book. I want to know more about the truth and I want to know what my part is in keeping the freedom we were given. I do not know near enough to defend the rights of this country, but this book is as good of a starting point as any and it will help me understand my responsibility and stewardship for living here in America. I thank all of those who put in the great effort in compiling this book. Thank you for making it understandable and affordable. Thank you for making a difference.
These guys are genius
I've read the federalist papers. And now I've read "the original argument". No matter how you slice it, Madison, Hamilton and Jay are brilliant. The commentary in this book actually does provide some insight, though Glenn Beck seems to be much more partisan in his reasoning than does Madison or Hamilton.
Without the commentary, these "translated" papers should be required reading for students. There is no escaping the brilliance of reason that these men possessed, but most importantly, how the idea of tyranny comes through as "fresh" in their minds. The dissolution of tyranny was their reason for existence, and it shows.
The two amazing things about the papers are first, that these men actually thought to "sell" the people on the notion of a union rather than just create it without the people's voice and second, just how many fears the founders expressed that have come to fruition and how exacting they were in their prophesies.
To the person who posted that Thomas Paine was a socialist - I think you have the wrong forum. Thomas Paine did not pen the Federalist Papers and was not a socialist. Maybe you should do your own research!
In any case, doing this book was a great idea, The Federalist papers are tough to get through in the style of 18th century conversation.
Now, will Beck also "translate" the Anti-Federalist papers by the likes of George Clinton, Samuel Bryon and Patrick Henry so we can see their side?

Absolutely wonderful book and a definite must read. Finally, the Federalist Papers in today's language!
