PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Distilling the essence of romance down into one book is an almost impossible feat, yet Kenyon manages it in the captivating sixth entry of her "Born of " series. Sumi Antaxas, a human woman, is a very reluctant assassin compelled into service by threats to her daughter. Her latest assignment is to gather intelligence on Dancer Hauk, of the Andarion Warring Blood Clan of Hauk. When she's trapped on a distant planet with Dancer, she finds herself torn between the daughter she's never seen and the tender, powerful warrior who will do anything for those he loves. Combining the best elements of science fiction, fantasy, and romance, the story focuses heavily on the definition of "family" and what it means to belong. Exquisiteworld building and vivid details complement the action-filled sequences just as well as the intimate, sensual moments.

Born of fury
This book was too over the top. I can't even begin to express my disappointment on this book. First off, I'm a BIG fan of ms Kenyon's work. I've read all the league series ( save Maris') more than once. All the B.A. D series more than once and at least 85% of the dark hunter series more than once. That being said, this is the first book I've read where the love story didn't seem believable. It felt forced, and light. With Nyks book, Syns book, darlings book, even Caillens books, you could feel the connection grow between the characters as the story progressed. But the exchanges in this book had no emotional content at all. It doesn't seem real. In addition to that, this book is filled with contradictions and plot holes. Not to mention the fact that reading this book the first time, I pegged the antagonist 1/4 of the way thru. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but as a fan of the series and those like me, we notice the subtle things. How is it that everything we know about Hauk from the previous books, and how he treasures those close to him, does he not kill Sumi the moment he finds her? That bs excuse about not killing in cold blood? Yea right!!! Maybe I buy the " make sure she's not alone" bit. But killing her would have been more apropos, not to mention the fact that they woulda been hunted anyway cuz she had nothing to do with the tracer!! And how is that Nyk and Hauk can go toe to toe with Kyr, but Sumi can do the damage she did with only 3 years of training? Also, with Nyk, syn, Nero, cai, Shahara, desi and all the other highly trained people in his house, how the heck did he get in anyway. Fans know how protective Nyk is over his family, not to mention everybody else and neros psychic thing. SPOILER ALERT!!! Even tho she has her 3 years league experience, and even if by a far stretch of the imagination she manage to learn to fight from Shahara and desi and Hauk cousin in less that 48 hrs, how in the hell would she be able to beat a full blooded andarion?!?! Nyk and syn has both said Hauk is a force to be reckoned with. Quote from born of night Nyk to kiara " I've give those(friggles) back if I were us. If he's hungry and decides to go after you, there's not much we can do to stop him." They war and fight, so Sumi should have NEVER won the fight. The weren't even close to being evenly matched. I'm sure there's more but I haven't read the book since aug. Ima re read it and update my post.
Note to the author: how bout a book about Jane? I'm crazy in love with her. Or Nero? He's in almost every book, so I'm sure readers would like to see him
