"Funny and demented . . . I'll read anything this guy writes."
— Chuck Wendig, author of Blackbirds and Zer0es, on Envy of Angels
"No one makes me think, 'Dammit, I should have thought of that!' like Matt Wallace. The Sin du Jour series is something I read with equal amounts of envy and delight."

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The Sin du Jour gang of magic-wielding culinary artists is preparing to cater the wedding of the year, and Lena Tarr and Darren Vargas, still reeling from the events of Envy of Angels, have been offered contracts to continue working for the famous executive chef Byron "Bronko" Luck. It's an offer they can't afford to resist. The goblin king and queen are planning the wedding of their son and his human fianc , and nothing less than perfection will do. These "aren't Lord of the Rings goblins," as Lena puts it; they're ethereally beautiful, and the king and queen moonlight in the human world as a rock star and a supermodel, respectively. (Their human aliases aren't given to the reader, but clues make it obvious exactly who they are.) The lovely bride is worried about impressing her in-laws, and Sin du Jour's resident witch, Boosha, attempts to help, with disastrous and frequently hilarious results. Also included is a slyly poignant bonus story about how the choicest delicacies namely gold and jewels, which goblins eagerly consume are procured for the wedding feast. Magic and humor combine with delicious results in this unusual, wildly fun novella.
Customer Reviews
Excellent; a real treat!
Wonderful characters, story, and storytelling. Didn’t spend the read stumbling over typos and broken grammar, or being annoyed by clichés. Picked up this series based on a recommendation from Howard of “Schlock Mercenary”. I’m off to read the 3rd installment now.
Gimme a new Sin du Jour story a day & I'll die happy
I would like to thank Macmillan-Tor/Forge & NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book to review. Though I received this e-book for free, that has no impact upon the honesty of my review.
Goodreads Teaser: "The staff of New York's premier supernatural catering company, has their work cut out for them in this outrageous follow-up to Envy of Angels.

As with the first of story about Sin du Jour, this one is full of weird and wildly unpredictable events. It seems mayhem is the best way to describe how this place functions. The interplay of the various characters, their oddly unique skill sets, and the crazy things that happen around and to them, makes this a stunning sequel.
Lena and Darren return to Sin du Jour as regular employees this time, rather than temp workers. This means they finally begin to get the inside scoop on how things function, and the very high level of dysfunction. And all that happens within the first few pages. From there things just get zanier, and why it may be life and death for the staff and clients of Sin du Jour, no one ever said it couldn't be entertaining for the rest of us. And entertaining it is!
If I had to offer up anything negative to share it would be that the story is to short. I wanted more, and needed everything to last longer. There was one item that was brought up that I anticipated being a future hurdle for the intrepid team from Sin du Jour, but oddly it was simply left hanging on the branch like a forgotten apple. But aside from that, and again that was only mentioned because I want more of the tales from Sin du Jour, this was another raging success in my eyes. I can't wait for another adventure with the talented, and twisted, SdJ team.
Sin Du FUN!
I want to start off by saying I loved Envy Of Angels & the short story Small Wars. I was very excited about this book and it was great to see all the wonderful characters that Wallace created again. The character development was great in this story but I feel the story did lack a little, it should have been longer. It just felt way too short and I didn't feel the description of the wedding or its parties were described as good as I liked.
I love the Sin Du Jour series and this story was a fun addition even though it didn't receive 5 stars as did the other two. One of the big reasons I did give it a four star was not only for being a bit rushed story wise but also for including the Small Wars story which I already paid for. I thought the story had a lot longer to go and then it just ended with more pages left only to include a story I already had.
I cannot wait to see more of these characters in the next book which I've already pre ordered!
