DELIGHTFUL SURPRISE!
This book was a very interesting read. I am grateful that I gave this an honest go because I almost deleted it from my library. When I discovered what a gem this tale is, I didn't put it down until I finished it!!!
So, four stars only because I considered deleting it. Download now, only don't keep searching because this book is as free as can be!
Take care.
a wonderful twisty tale
An impoverished high-society elderly aunt, her 23-year-old niece Beatrice and their maid Nellie live in a low class area. The aunt refuses to allow the niece any association with the neighbors. The poor girl is pretty much a recluse. Everything changes when the maid inherits a lot of money from an American uncle. Beatrice becomes the maid, and Nellie tries to find her way in Society. What you think might happen definitely does not. What you think will become a turning point in the story is only a side plot. Originally copyrighted in 1915, this wonderful twisty tale kept me on my toes, always wondering what is important. Beatrice does find what and who is important to her. You should read this!
