Publisher Description
France, 1920. The former battlefields of the Somme are awash with soldiers, prisoners and labourers toiling to restore the countryside to its former glories, and to find and exhume all those who gave their lives in the Great War. It's a terrible job, but one which many of this massive army of undertakers are priveledged to assist with. This includes Tommy Lewis, a waiter from Lewisham, who was living a previous uneventful and pointless life. But he soon discovers that some are in France for the wrong reasons; not to give the heroes of the war a proper send-off and burial, but to make money in devious ways. And they will scheme, maim and murder to make sure they do.
