Hannon returns to Hope Harbor, Ore., for this pleasing fifth installment (after Pelican Point) of her inspirational series. Jeannette Mason leaves Cincinnati and her job as a teacher to open a tea room in Hope Harbor after a personal tragedy. Taking quickly to the area's natural charms, Jeannette infuses her offerings with the lavender she plants in her garden. Jeannette's introduction to her new neighbors comes at the expense of some of those plants after the beagle owned by California transplants Logan West and his five-year old niece, Molly, tears through Jeannette's garden. Although she finds Logan handsome, Jeannette's need for privacy causes her to rebuff his friendly advances until a family from Syria, who immigrated to the U.S. through the sponsorship of Hope Harbor's Grace Christian Church. Jeannette and Logan welcome the family at a church gathering, and they start to grow closer when Jeannette begins helping with day care for Molly and Elisa, a six-year-old Syrian girl. While the plot plods slowly in some sections, Hope Harbor provides the comfort Jeannette needs in order to open up to a new beginning. This quaint love story is full of faith and characters that readers will want to root for until the end.

An Uplifting Story
Driftwood Bay is about a lonely woman, Jeanette, who has determined to live a solitary life. Her plans are foiled when a single doctor and his young niece interrupt her solitude. At the same time, a refugee family that the church and town have committed to helping is in need of assistance that she can give if she is willing to step out of her comfort zone. Her faith and her conscience continue to drive her to do what she knows is right even if it’s not in accordance with her plans.
This story really focuses on grief and healing and being able to move forward after terrible things happen in life instead of staying in the grief. And it’s about allowing love for other people and from other people to help you heal. I really enjoyed reading Driftwood Bay. The characters are likeable and relatable. And the emotions that the characters are dealing with are emotions that I think a lot of people can connect with. I would definitely recommend this book.

Logan was sure he wasn’t thinking when he got a beagle,Toby, seeing the mess, that he had gotten into the trash again. Molly his niece coming into the kitchen, where was Toby she had let him out, without a leash.Being a single
parent, he wasn’t cut out for. As a doctor sewing up cuts he was. he was the
new ER Doctor.
Jeanette in her garden found the culvert of who was digging up her lavender plants, Toby.. The rate that dog was going, her Lavender Farm with the lavender for her tea room, would be out of business. What would Toby do when the tea room was busy. Thinking she came to be neighborly and now he knows what those straggly plants Toby brought home.
Both of them struggling over tragedy in their lives, wanting the serenity of Hope Harbor and the ocean. Finding the people cheerful and ready to help.
