Publisher Description

It's the intel every agent fears--terrorists have been smuggled into the country, intent on unleashing the most deadly attack since 9/11. With the threat imminent, FBI Agent Kiley Dawson and ICE Agent Evan Bowers are charged with taking down this terrorist cell. The only problem is Kiley blames Evan for the death of her former partner, and she can barely be in a room with him. But with millions of lives on the line, she has no choice.

If it wasn't for a bad call Evan made, Kiley's former partner would still be alive, and Evan has to live with that guilt for the rest of his life. When he starts falling for her, the agent's death seems an impossible obstacle--but it's also the last thing he needs to think about. As the terrorist plot targets Kiley's family, the two are pushed to the breaking point in a race to save countless lives.

Debora Wilder ,

This is a very intense romantic suspense novel!

I love both of the main characters in this book. Kiley and Evan are incredibly well developed. They both have things from their past that make it difficult for them to work together. There is self blame and unforgiveness that needs to be worked through. I loved seeing both of them as they progressed through the journey in the midst of the very dangerous case that they are working on that needs their full focus.

The plot of the case is amazing! It has so many twists and turns that kept me sucked in. I was fascinated by all of the different people of interest that Kiley and the rest of the team were trying to track down to find the actual terrorists involved in their case. The amount of details that were included in the case and the activities each agent was handling was fantastic. It was very apparent that the author did a lot of research before and during the writing of this book.

Well-researched but disappointing

I appreciated the gifted author’s obvious research on law enforcement and containershipping, but the book was too blatantly political for me. We are already inundated with politics right now in America, and fiction should be an escape from it. I was hoping to read some good, suspenseful but apolitical fiction. It IS being done by some. Disappointed in this book & wishing I had my $11 back (ebook).

PROFOUND!

MINUTES TO DIE (Homeland Heroes Book #2) by Susan Sleeman is PROFOUND! This novel tells the story of FBI Agent Kiley Dawson and the Red Team tasked with the biggest case of any of their careers. They have discovered terrorists have been smuggled into the United States and are planning the biggest attack since 9/11. Kiley is the first woman to be leading such a high profile team so she is already placing extreme pressure on herself. The Team has a new member ICE Agent Evan Bowers. Kiley and Evan worked together on a previous mission that resulted in the third member of their Team being killed. Kiley has always blamed Evan for what happened. Evan is the best at what he does so they need him so Kiley must find a way to work with him so the whole Team will be able to function at 100 percent. And to complicate things even further, the two of them were beginning to grow very close prior to the loss of their Team member.

Susan Sleeman has long been on of my favorite authors. She keeps you on the edge of your seat with excitement and keeps you up way into the night reading one more page, chapter, etc. Also, Sleeman always goes the extra mile in her explanation of police procedurals. In MINUTES TO DIE, she has the Red Team digging and going far beneath what is superficial, external, or obvious in their pursuit of putting the pieces of the puzzle together and thwarting the plans of the terrorists. Sleeman certainly makes readers stop and think of the possibility of our vulnerabilities and the dedicated Law Enforcement Agents that work day in and day out to protect us. This was a very informative read.
