Fun read, but…
This whole series has been a fun read, but this latest installment was a bit off putting. The problem I have with it is the undertone of classism that the female protagonist and other characters exhibit. Yes, she’s a Princess and she falls in love with commoner, BUT the way she and several other characters talk to and about those they see as “lesser” really bothered me. Maybe the author is setting them up for character growth, but the entitled way the female protagonist pursued the male protagonist doesn’t lend itself to that. But I’ll keep reading because it’s a fun world and hope the characters do find personal growth.
Eviana and Quentin
I love that we are getting to the children's story now. I think this world the author has built is fun and has that childhood fairytale storyline, but with a bit of adult content. It just makes for a fun read.
Our heroine, Eviana is the daughter of Luciana and Leo from book 1 of the Embraced series. She has that innocence of a sheltered princess. She also has a pretty, powerful ability that could potentially make her dangerous to others. You really get to see her embrace that power, and go from a sheltered princess to a hero.
Our hero, Quentin is also embraced with the power to shift to an eagle, which makes him a powerful spy for the royals. He's been in love with Eviana for years but does not feel worthy for her station. That will be the biggest struggle for this couple to overcome while they battle an evil that wants to rid this world of the royal family.
This is a big fantasy world this author has created and a lot of story to be told. I look forward to where she takes us next.
Mesmerizing & riveting must read love story!
Loved reading the mesmerizing and spellbinding paranormal story. Because of Princess Eviana's powerful Embraced gift and kidnapping at a young age, her parents are overly protective and want her to wed someone who will keep her safe. When Quentin, an eagle shifter and royal spy, sees many of the noblemen unworthy of her, his love for her wants to protect her even though he knows he is the one most unworthy of her, a low-born servant. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, full of romance and action, a riveting story engaging the reader from the first page of the story until the last page of the story, and another must read love story by the phenomenal author, Kerrelyn Sparks. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
